| Phoenix Am... |
04-10-2008 |
We need to give a big congrats to several past issue interviewees of FTK. Chicago's very own Chazz Ortiz finished second place solidifying the rumors that he's one to watch out for in skateboarding in the coming years. Last issue's interviewee, Dustin Blauvelt just missed the cash with a respectable 4th. Where local Florida all around ripper and contest winner Timmy Knuth broke into the top 10 with an 8th place finish, and past Tampa Am winner Cody Mcentire ended in 11th. How's that for solidarity? Congrats to all of these guys and Ryan Decenzo for going back to back with the Tampa Am and now the Phoenix Am. Isn't about time this guy goes pro?

| ZOO YORK WELCOMES ELI REED. |
03-21-2008 |
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Eli currently lives in NYC's East Village. A versatile street skater with a deep bag of tricks, Eli's unwavering dedication and years of grinding it out have earned him the respect of his peers and helped him make a name for himself in the global skateboarding community. His most recent accomplishments include placing fourth in Redbull's Manny Mania Contest, as well as securing highly-touted video parts in Zered Bassett's Vicious Cycle and Jereme Rogers' Neighborhood. Eli is skating better than ever right now, and to keep the momentum going he is already hard at work filming his part for Zoo York's upcoming full-length team video.
Eli has been one of my best friends and favorite skaters for ten years now, says long-time Zoo pro rider Zered Bassett. I'm hyped hes officially part of the crew, and I'm looking forward to traveling with him and watching him shred.
As the newest member of the Zoo Crew, Eli joins veteran ZY Officials Zered Bassett, Donny Barley, Aaron Suski, Forrest Kirby, Kevin Taylor, Brandon Westgate (Am), Matt Miller (Am), Anthony Shetler (Am), Lamare Hemmings (Am), and Ron Deily (Am).
To celebrate Eli joining Zoo York, a special podcast shot and produced by RB Umali is now available for download through iTunes. Eli's footage is also available on YouTube (Keyword search: Eli Reed ZY).

| The Harold Hunter Foundation would like to thank you for all of your support in 2007! |
03-21-2008 |
2007 was a busy year, beginning with our first Board Meeting in January when we elected the Board of Directors.
Later that month, with the help of Joseph Lattimore, Mad Daimoku, Dave's Quality Meat, aNYthing, Max Fish, UXA, and MDP/Sensei we had the first annual Harold Hunter Memorial Basketball Classic, held at Harold's alma mater Seward Park High School in January of 2007.
In February 2007 the HHF held a touching memorial at Forbidden City, to give Harold's friends a chance to get together and remember him on the anniversary of his passing. Films by R. B. Umali and Suzanne Clyne were shown and a photo exhibit was on display.
In April, the Nike Bridge Runners sponsored a 5 mile "Run for Harold" event leading approximately 40 runners through Harold's favorite stomping grounds. Beginning at the Brooklyn Banks, heading up through the Lower East Side, through Washington Square Park and across the Village, the run ended near the Campos Housing Project where Harold grew up. An after-party was held at Royale. Commemorative T-shirts were designed by Stash & Mike Hernandez, and at the end of the event Nike graciously matched the money raised by the event.
With the money raised at our various events, we sent George Milanes and Louis Vicor, two up and coming skaters from the Bronx, to Woodward Camp for a week in August.
Thanks to generous donations from DC, Shut, DQM, Rockstar Bearings, Nike and Triple 8 the boys were fully equipped with gear and boards and sent off in style by limousine courtesy of Madison Avenue Limousine to the Woodward Camp bus (see attached photo of the boys with HHF Board of Directors member Todd Jordan).
We are already off to another great year in 2008! In January, Blockworks sponsored the second annual Harold Hunter Memorial Basketball Classic. Building on the success of last year's event, this year's event included a dodgeball tournament and a wildly entertaining chicken wing eating contest, giving new meaning to the term "classic".
There a number of upcoming events in the works including another "Run for Harold" event with the Nike Bridgerunners, to be held on April 12th as well as another Harold Hunter Day scheduled for May 17, 2008, a skate clinic at KCDC and, of course, we will be sending a new group of kids off to Woodward Camp again this summer. More information on these events will follow.
Again, thank you for all of your support in 2007 and beyond! We look forward to seeing you at HHF events throughout the coming year.
If you have any interest in assisting with any of our events, or if you have any ideas that you think would be useful to the Harold Hunter Foundation please let us know.
Much love,
The Harold Hunter Foundation

| A time to remember... |
03-21-2008 |
On Saturday April 12th we will be celebrating the life of Luciano "Lucy" Ramallo, who we tragically lost on February 24th of this year. While this was a truly sad way to lose our friend I know he would want us to remember him with smiles and good times. Let's remember all the fun we shared and lessons learned from Lucy in his short time on this Earth.
At 11am on Saturday April 12th join me at Phipps Skatepark. Formerly Sanctuary Skatepark located at 4715 S. Dixie Hwy. in West Palm Beach.
Helmets and waivers are required.
Regular admission to skate and free to watch.
There will be a novice, Intermediate, and Advanced division with a best trick and product toss to follow.
Live music and art from local musicans and artists as well. Food and drinks will be available.
Come out and enjoy this day remembering our friend.
For any questions feel free to call the park at 561-835-7170 or contact me directly at 561-452-6228
Thanks,
Chris Miller
Recreation Leader of Phipps Skatepark

| An act of GAV... |
03-21-2008 |
One week after DVS hired on our boy Cullen Poythress to serve as the brand’s new Marketing Manager, Poythress’ Atlanta, Georgia-based apartment was blown to pieces by the violent tornadoes that swept through the city’s metro area last weekend. The 26-year-old former TransWorld Business Editor made his cross country move just in time and says he couldn’t be happier about his new role at DVS. “ “This was no act of god, this was an act of Gav,” says Poythress.
Poythress’ addition comes on the heels of several other new promotions within the DVS marketing camp. Congrats to both Cullen and DVS.

| It takes ONE to know ONE. |
03-12-2008 |
You know, coming up in skateboarding now-a-days is pretty tough. Every kid out there rips, every skateboard company out there has some sales pitch to make you want to buy their stuff, and every shop out there has a "passion" for skateboarding. Or at least that's what they claim. I know that there are a few out there that are in it for "the quick buck." Lucky for us, there's no such thing and you'll be gone soon enough. Anyway, here's a company that is out for all the right reasons. Be sure to peep this kid as he comes through Florida this month. Just a rad kid on a mission to skate all over the east coast.

| Bob Burnquist on IPATH |
11-14-2007 |
IPATH is pleased to announce that Bob Burnquist is the latest addition to the team. Bob¹s unique approach to skateboarding makes him a solid fit for the expanding IPATH crew.
From innovating every time he steps on a skateboard, to his own legendary backyard park and mega-ramp to organic farming, Bob follows his own unique path in every aspect of his life.
"Bob is a perfect fit for the IPATH team and we're stoked to have him onboard," stated IPATH¹s president, Brian Krauss. "Bob's distinctive approach to skating and the decisions he makes on a personal level mesh perfectly with IPATH¹s vision. Our entire team is made up of unique individuals and the addition of Bob to the crew only enforces that."
Despite turning pro in Brazil when he was 14, he was a relative unknown in the US until he won the prestigious Slam City Jam, stunning the crowd with his technical switch skating. This then catapulted his skateboarding to numerous other successes, including: Thrasher's coveted
Skater Of The Year crown and multiple X-Games medals. However, his contest wins only compliment his deep bag of trick innovations and other skateboarding firsts.
Bob is currently hard at work filming for the long-awaited Flip Skateboards video 'Extremely Sorry', due out spring 2008. Watch for more from Bob online at www.ipath.com.

| Polk County Represent!!! |
11-05-2007 |
After years of talk and speculation, Lakeland Florida will finally have a real indoor skatepark. Yes, the home of Andrew Reynolds will finally have a skatepark. Unfortunately Mr. Reynolds has nothing to do with the park but I'm sure he'll be there next time he's in town for a session. The new Lakeland park will be three warehouses complete with a proshop. The minds of the famed Ghetto Compound and Old School Ramps and Rails have teamed up on this joint venture. Word on the street is that the kiddie section will be complete by this weekend, and the new park should be open for business sometime in December. We'll bring you more details as they come in.

| ZOO YORK RELEASES TWO NEW SERIES OF ARTIST DECKS: MAKESET & BROKEN WINDOWS |
10-01-2007 |
New York, NY – September 26, 2007 – The Zoo York Institute is proud to announce the release of two highly-anticipated new series of collaboration artist decks – Makeset and Broken Windows – both of which are now available at authorized Zoo retailers.
Makeset is a design collective comprised of two Brooklyn-based artists/designers/makers – Mike Perry and Zoo's very own in-house creative mastermind, Damien Correll. Long-time friends and regular collaborators, over the years the two have joined forces on several ‘zines, prints, and other acclaimed art projects. The tag team duo’s new series of Zoo York pro models feature custom graphics that are a playful spin on NYC’s iconic landmarks, renowned architecture, and bustling neighborhoods. From Coney Island, Times Square, and the East River, to the Brooklyn Bridge, Flatiron District, and Chrysler Building, the Makeset Artist Series provides a unique visual narrative on the Big Apple.
The Broken Windows Artist Series is a custom creation brought to life by a covert design collective affiliated with Zoo York. Keeping it dark and gritty like New York City, the graphics on this collaborative series of pro model boards reflect the wide range of typography, graffiti, and scrawls plastered all throughout the city's five boroughs. Cleverly designed so the graphics from one board bleed onto the next to form a complete set (aka, polyptych), the inspiration for this series was derived from a challenge to the 80’s era Broken Windows theory that was adopted by the Giuliani Administration as a way to clean up city streets by cracking down on graffiti, petty crime, and other forms of perceived “vandalism.”

| Small Talk... |
10-01-2007 |
SMALL TALK is a group art exhibition being put together by Dustin Orlando, BETA Shoe Boutique, Covert Skate Shop, Alchemy, Etoile and some of Orlando's more active local artists..
The concept of the show is to bring together emerging artists as well as some established artists, and have them create art works in a small-scale format. Each artist in the exhibit will create one piece of work that is exactly 12 inches x 12 inches. The artists are invited to submit works created in the medium of their choosing. Expect to see drawings, paintings, watercolors, airbrush, stencils, screen printing, aerosol, mixed media, and collage. We are putting this show together to help build awareness and continue the growth of the Orlando art community, while at the same time, bringing exposure to the BETA retail boutique and art gallery. All art work submitted will be available for purchase and will be priced below $500.00 usd.
SMALL TALK will feature art work by artists from all over the country as well as a handful from Canada and Europe. Some artists of mention include
BASK, TES-ONE, DANIEL HYUN LIM, CHRIS MUSINA, MAN-ONE, PETE WOLLENGER, KEV GREY, MARIO ZUCCA and ANDREW SPEAR.
